My Trip to Joshua Tree: The Guide

As we were leaving our hotel and heading back to LA, we saw this beautiful road and decided to shoot a look here, obviously, what kind of blogger would I be if I missed a perfect photo opportunity? The lighting was perfection and the scene was nothing short of being movie-worthy. From climbing on rocks to almost getting ran over on several occasions, this shoot was filled with adventure. The orange Janilla Maxi dress is by House of Harlow, which can be found at  Revolve. I paired the dress with a tribal inspired vest by DVF which I've had for years and has accompanied me through several festivals or whenever I want to layer a look and add that boho chic element. The tan booties with a block tortoise heel are by TopShop and are great heigh for a maxi dress. As far as accessories goes I threw on some beige retro aviator style Perverse sunglasses which I'm currently obsessed with and then I incorporated a white felt floppy Kin K hat and a vintage belt to carry on with the western theme. I absolutely love the idea of mixing the old with the new to create an ultra chic look.

Whenever I travel somewhere new I try to gather some recommendations from someone who either lives there or has knowledge of the place. This trip was my first visit to Joshua Tree and ironically also the first time for everyone in my team. Since this was the case I had to pull some strings to obtain an amazing guide from one of my dear friends who often visits and knows the best of the best is in Joshua Tree. My team and I were able to enjoy every aspect of the this magical destination as every recommendation was truly incredible. Look below for team Katetik's top picks...

Where to stay: The Pioneertown Motel was where we stayed for the duration of our trip and we truly couldn't have been happier. Built in the 1940 this rustic chic hotel is an incredible place to experience the beauty of surrounding nature without sacrificing comfort. This location has been used for many movies throughout history making it an even cooler hotel to stay at when visiting Joshua Tree.

Where to eat: One of our favorite aspects of this entire trip was the food. Staying true to its hippie community, this town sure knows how to serve up some delicious, healthy food. The Frontier Cafe is a rustic cafe which offers great eats and live music. Many people take their laptops and work from there making it the perfect cafe to both work and play. The Natural Sister Cafe is a tiny restaurant that has the most amazing vegan food. This place was so good that we even decided to eat there for lunch two days in a row. We already ordered the sandwiches which we totally recommend, but just be sure to watch out for the portion sizes as they are enormous.

What to do: Joshua Tree is a destination where people go to unwind and get in touch with mother nature. From hiking the trails at the beautiful national park, to stargazing from your campsite, it is the perfect place to experience natural beauty. As a fun quirky activity team and I were determined to go to the World famous Crochet Museum. This place was so cute and tiny and we had the best time taking pictures with all the crocheted stuffed animals. Don't forget to ask for your free aura cleanse while you're here!
