Simply put, this blog is about passion. My deepest passions happen to lie in fashion, interior design and travel, and this blog is my drawing board.

NYFW-Day 1

NYFW-Day 1

I have visited some fashion shows during my years working in the industry but always in a behind the scenes capacity, whether as an intern for a PR company when I was still a student or helping organize a London show for a designer I worked for. So having the opportunity to attend New York fashion week as a guest was a dream come true and such an exciting experience.

The amount of preparation that goes into the fashion weeks is immense and the two major fashion seasons are seen as the ultimate highlight of the fashion calendar. This season time permitting I was only able to do New York fashion week but for the spring summer season I hope to attend shows at the big four fashion capitals of New York, London, Milan and Paris.

New York is known to be particularly unkind with its weather patterns in winter and this February was no exception. During the week we saw subzero temperatures, snow, ice and heavy rain showers, which made moving around shows and shooting outside rather challenging. In fact the most warm and sunny day of the week was the day after the official end of fashion week; go figure!

But enough complaining, here is the roundup of some of the highlights from the week and most importantly the outfits I wore for each day.

I arrived in NY a couple of days into fashion week so my experience started on Valentines day by attending the Noon by Noor show. The collection consisted of elegant tailored pieces in a muted palette mixed in with highlights of shimmering textures in rich hues of indigo and pewter.

For this very cold day I paired an asymmetrical frayed hem Marques’ Almeida skirt with a geometric print Proenza Schoeler top and woven Proneza booties as well as a statement Marc Jacobs necklace, my trusted Nasty Gal felt hat and fur lined Jitrois leather jacket.
