Duster Dreams

Duster Dreams

Good Morning loves and Merry Christmas, hope everyone is having a fantastic time celebrating and opening those presents!

I am currently recovering from yet another food coma but wanted to share this look I shot recently.

This week I spoke about my love for robe style jackets and today I am introducing some competition; the duster coat. Made popular by the Kardashian clan (when have you seen Kim without one) some years ago, this trend is here to stay. Consisting of slightly heavier materials like linen, suede or wool blend than its silk robe twin brother, the duster coat is a must piece to acquire. I must say I was initially hesitant about introducing these pieces into my wardrobe for their volume and lack of structure but the key is to wear something more fitted underneath; think fitted turtleneck, body, knitted dress or anything belted.

This particular tuxedo style duster coat is by House of Harlow and I especially love the embroidered floral detail on the back that adds a 70's vibe. I paired it with a ruffle polka dot dress by Topshop and a pair of classic mid heel Louboutin pumps in tan. The subtle touches of red from the embroidery, the dots on the dress, hairpins and of course the soles all compliment each other to create a cohesive look.

Robe or duster coat, whats your favourite style, let me know in the comments below.
