Fashion Week Hairstyles

Something that I love experimenting with is different hairstyles. I’ve particularly been obsessing over incorporating braids into my looks whenever I can. With that said, I’ve narrowed down my most favourite hair looks of fashion month.

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

I started this fashion month with some peasant chic inspiration. I’ve done other hairstyles with this similar theme in mind, but never with a fishtail braid. This first look is achieved by parting the hair in half and leaving a front section on each side; After that you twist these front sections and create a peasant look for the front. For the back, my girl Anita Sun put in a row of clip in extensions for length and volume, brought in the side sections into the middle and then braided the whole thing into a fishtail braid. Voila, you’ve got a peasant fishtail braid!

For my second favourite look of NYFW I went with an edgier style to go with my metallic toned outfit.  My hair stylist slicked back my hair and set aside enough hair to make 2 braids on each side. The braids are cornrow style and definitely something different than I’ve done in the past. Remember that spray is key when slicking back hair as it helps it stay in place and keeps you looking sharp.

For my final favourite hairstyle in the Big Apple, I drew inspiration from my playful ensemble for the much anticipated Jeremy Scott show that day. The hair was an understated low ponytail with a twist. Anita braided a small piece of hair in the middle and then simply created a wrap around ponytail by wrapping a piece of hair that covers the hair tie and then tucking it in at the bottom. This style is easy to achieve and is sure to take your ponytail game to the next level.

LONDON FASHION WEEK

My top London pick was this feminine high-ponytail with a front braid hairstyle. This look can be achieved by doing the following: braid 2 sections of hair on each side to frame the face, then curl the rest of hair in sections with tongs, finally pull up hair into high-ponytail and wrap the braids around it. Want to look super cute and girly for a fun night out? Then this is your look!

MILAN FASHION WEEK

I am obsessed with the outcome of my peasant crown braid. It’s a very chic look that I’ve done different variations of and I’m excited to share with you how to achieve this.  Start by parting hair to the side and then begin to French braid all around head until very last strand; just tuck in the last piece into braid and secure with bobby pins. See? It’s not too hard. Hehe

PARIS FASHION WEEK

For my final look of fashion month I went with a similar look as the one in Milan, but obviously I wanted to take it to the next level by adding some volume in the back. This style is achieved by parting your hair right down the middle, braiding each side into thick braids, adding hair section by section as you go, and finally loop and pin in the back to form a cool twist effect. It’s got a very chic feel to it and it perfect for an elegant event.

Let me know which was your favorite hairstyle!
