Mellow Yellow

Mellow Yellow

On a recent trip to New York I decided to wear this mellow yellow off the shoulder dress from Storets, a brand I am currently obsessed with for their forward thinking yet very affordable designs.

I love the colour yellow for its bright and sunny energy and that it also compliments my golden locks but I think it works equally well on all complexions. Moreover what better place to wear a bit of yellow than the vibrant streets of New York to pick up on all of those lights as well as the iconic cabs dashing past.

The reason why this outfit works so well is the color-blocking and contrasting effect with the black details; both as part of the dress and in the accessories I paired it with. Since the dress has a bit of an oversized cut, it can tend to look a bit boxy so I played around with using my Chanel bag as a belt to cinch it at the waist, but you can use a regular belt or even better a belt bag (like this one) for the same cool effect. I've had my eye on on a pair of knee high lace up sandals and these Stuart Witzman beauties were the winner this season (now on sale). I absolutely love how they have that cool bohemian vibe, but the sleek black suede makes them edgy enough for city wear as well as transitions perfectly from day tonight. I'll definitely be wearing a lot of them for the remainder of the summer!

Shooting during the the last rays of evening sun really brought this outfit alive. So ladies next time you want to shine bright don't shy away from the colour yellow.
